 Just about finished with the inside house winter projects that my wife was wanting me to catch up on.Can't really blame her to tell you the truth.You may believe that sometimes we live in the shop,but then the rest of the house goes to hell.Got a chance to take the cylinder heads to Ladds Porting Service for a up grade and to have the tunnel wedge intake matched to the heads.I have a set of stainless intake and exhaust valves to be used in the valve job process.I picked up on a fair priced deal on a new set of Comp Cams Roller Rockers through e-bay a while back.They have a few scracthes on them, and have a set of super strong rocker shafts,and rocker supports to help keep everything in a straight line.I was told the head work would take a a month.He has a great reputation around these parts.It's okay as I'm in no rush.
I got the body square on the frame and bolted down so it won't move.I'll be welding inside support bars this coming week and be shooting a lot of pictures showing how we are gonna acomplish the process.

Ok folks,its over with the holidays,and my fat butt needs to be moving around. Getting tired of ideas and not doing anything about them.I'm in the process of trying to bolt down the body to the frame and one side seems to be off about 1/2 ".Think this is due to maybe the body being taken off before,[more times than I can remember],and I know damm well that it had to have shifted.The reasoning behind all this is that I never really tack welded any support braces to keep everything in line before the body came off to sit around for a period of time.I feel like a real Bozo for this and I should have known better.

I been using a Porta Power trying to move the body back into its frame location.I think I have it pretty square.I took the front body mounting bolts and cut the heads off and rounded the cuts around with a grinder to look like dowls.After taken a close look I figured that I  have to enlongate the body bolt holes a little to be able to access the frame locating bolt holes,This will probably be ok as long as the doors fit ok and besides,I know that others have run into this before.If not,I don't think they are being honest.

Once I get this clamped and bolted down,I gonna weld some channel  inside body at a few locations to keep everything in line and square.The shots of the rear end housing and distance are just about perfect and looks real good.I'm gonna weld the motor mount plates to the frame as well.We want to get this back as far as possible,with sacrificing inside room,as this will be a cruiser and Paisano needs a few creature comforts.

Anyhow,I had to cut a portion of the floor my father had made for it years ago.He's probably rollin' in his grave and cussing me up a storm,as all this was hand made and welded up with accelaline.Sorry Ol' Man,your son F**KED Up Again.

SORRY THAT I HAVEN'T BEEN POSTING ANYTHING IN RECENT WEEKS.MOST OF MY SPARE TIME HAS BEEN SPENT WORKING ON MY MOM'S HOUSE GETTING IT READY FOR MARKET.

BEEN WAITING LONG FOR THIS TO HAPPEN



I THINK I NAILED THE REAR PERFECT,TO BODY LOCATION..RIDE HEIGHT IS NOT DETERMINED YET



As the title says,I been waiting to get enough guys over to help me reinstall the body back on the frame for final engine/trans location.I was a happy camper to say the least.It took a little longer than the last time I did this.Everthing seems to get a little bit tighter as more welding takes place,which I think is understandable.

The guys were great and patient as I bribed them with Pizza & Coronas.Thanks the Gods for Beer!

The trans cuttout that I did previously,came out right on the dime.I was happy with it.The engine setback I had was real close also,in that the motor mount plates/trans mounts, were not welded to the frame yet.

I will be bolting on the body to frame to make it fit exactly as I will be making reinforcement braces all the way around in the body.This will make door hinge supports,instead of original wood used in the ancient days.Dash braces,etc. will also be made soon.Pictures of that will be shown also.Meantime here are pictures of the body been installed to the frame,with some mug shots of my friends,whose faces only a mother could love.

Welder,
My wife and I recently had our 30th wedding anniversary.
To celebrate, we smuggled a small bottle of champagne along with plastic champagne cups, to the top of a cool lighthouse.
As we were watching dolphins play in the bay, and having a romantic toast, I couldn't help but think to myself...
"I wonder if those handrail brackets were welded with flux core or stick... ?"


Is it just me? Am I the only one looks at welds everywhere I go? Am I the only one who checks out the welds on the aluminum tanker truck next me on the highway? ...the bikes at Walmart?
What can I say? I am into this stuff.

I had a chance to clean up the place and get everything off the work benches.Seems I was getting tired of looking for things all the time under this and that.Not that I'm still looking for things,as usual,I always misplace stuff.[who doesn't ?].Looks a lot better.I put everything up on shelves all the way around the shop and was able to get two rows of shelving and in some places,three.Man,I never knew I had so much stuff and room now.Just used simple "L"  brackets and Pine boards.Looks good and I'm happy now,and it looks frst class.

Once again,in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness MONTH,I will post in this color.Hopefully, we find a cure,Thanks.
I been waiting for some "bodies"to show up so I can reinstall the body to the frame.While waiting,I been to setting up the front shocks,brackets,etc.The bottom mounting brackets which I made from 1/8" stock have not been tacked on to the axle system.I am waiting for final ride height in order to determine how much of the bracket I need to trim off in order to get about a third of the shock compressed under weight.This is an original old school straight axle that was used on alterds that ran in the 60's.It is a "CAE" unit,and I have only seen one since on a ride.I was drooling,man,shouldda been ashamed of myself.

Top tacked,bottom loose,aprox,shock angle is 20 degrees.

It was given to me from my father & mother for my high school graduation.Just what I wanted too,[no damm watch for me].It came from Strick's Speed Shop in Washington,DC. My father's body shop was just down the street off of 14th. street also.Both are long gone.

Front shocks for proper ride should be mounted at about a 20 degree angle for best ride control.It not only helps ride,but stablizes better when turning.
The picture of my hand with the shinny metal piece is a headlite' mount that mounts on the upper shock bolt and frame bracket.These are Vintique units made out of stainless. Because of the closeness of the upper shock mount and the top of the bracket,I'm gonna have to modify the headlite' mount pieces so they clear the upper part of the shock.I haven't figured extactly how I'm going to do this,but will let you know.
